After much thought, I have decided that I will no longer be lending my voice to any machinima projects. This includes any and all projects that I am currently involved with (the only exception being Definition of Forever) (UPDATE: And DC Al Fine).
Honestly, I used to have a lot of fun with voice acting. Somewhere along the way, however, it stopped being fun and it became a real chore. And I actually dread the thought of being cooped up in my house this summer recording lines. So, the time has come for me to pursue other interests.
I understand that this decision puts several directors in a bind when it comes to re-casting, but I’d be more than happy to help you all find replacements. If any fellow voice actors are reading this, and would like to offer their services, then please feel free to leave a comment on this blog so that the directors can have a way to get in touch with you.
While it lasted, I really enjoyed meeting and working with the diverse group of people that make up this community. Your support helped me more than you’ll ever know, so I’d like to thank everyone who went out of their way to reach out to me. To my fellow voice actors, I’d like to thank you for always giving your best, which constantly pushed me to get better. And to all of my directors, I really appreciate the faith you all showed in me, especially in the beginning when nobody knew who I was.
I sincerely hope you all continue to follow your joy — whatever that may be.
Yours,
Shawn
Oh Shawn.. :<
I know.
That’s of course very sad for us, but I think it’s a good decision, and I really understand it.
Thank you.
I’m surprised you’re only sticking with Definition of Forever, I figured (if you were to make any exceptions) it would be with Trendyhendy’s ‘No one knows’ (could this mean that you’ve already done all the voices needed for that series?).
I know what you mean how voice acting just isn’t as fun anymore, there were many times when I just wanted to quit. People know me too much as just a voice actor >_>; when I try to get into different things and show my versatility (like filming a real-action film, or acting on stage) it practically gets ignored. It’s annoying.
There’s not much left for “Definition of Forever.” That’s one reason why I’m sticking with it. Besides, I don’t think I’d feel right with anyone else finishing the role. And I haven’t heard from Trendy in a while, so I’m not sure what’s going on with that series. But, no, I haven’t finished all the lines for that project.
I understand what you feel and I think you are right.
It is good to take breaks or switch to something else sometimes. But ohwell I’m not saying that you aren’t a bad voice actor but you ARE actually a great one!
So I guess and hope in the future you can still work on that. :)
Have a good day / Night.
Regards.

Thanks, Alex. I appreciate it.
One question, are you still going to keep this blog up for your personal life? Or are you going to close it down?
Good question. I guess I was just going to leave the blog up… but I wasn’t planning on updating it. We’ll see.
Shawn, I understand,
I really understand having to do voice over work and just it becoming a chore. Like I just come home from school and then BOOM! I have to do a voice over…
By the way, are you doing that voice over with lodelday?
No, I am not.
alright, I’ll notify her :)
I’m sorry, and you are? I don’t know why you feel the need to take it upon yourself to “notify” her, but my dealings with directors are between me and them. I did not ask you, nor do I need you, as a messenger.
If Lodelday wants to find out whether or not I am still interested in working with her, she can ask me herself. Thanks.
Sorry I’ve been so up foward, I’d just like to be friends with you, I apoligize if I had acted in a way you didn’t appreciate
Do you know anyone who might be interested in auditioning for my series? Because I don’t know anyone to do the male roles, and I could do with some help getting auditions…
I don’t really keep up with who is and isn’t voice acting anymore. Try the Voice Acting Alliance or Voice Acting Club. Also, just look at videos of projects that you really like and pay attention to the credits: you could then try to message those voice actors. Good luck with your casting. :)
Thanks.
Whoops, thought I’d left a comment here when you first posted this. Just wanted to say that although I’ll miss hearing your voice in new projects, I completely support and understand your decision. I wish you the best in your theatre program and future endeavors. Who knows, maybe we’ll see you performing onstage one day in the not-so-distant future :-)
Thanks, Tori! :)
Oh but I cannot get your voice out of my head..it’s mezmorizing~
Thanks, Tara. That’s very kind of you! :)
It’s a shame that it’s come to where voice acting is a chore for you. I took a 2 year hiatus and came back with a sense of invigoration but I’m still hesitant on taking up roles. Sadly, I know the feeling and I completely understand. I just wish I could have had a chance to work with you.
Anyway, I wish you the absolute best of luck on your endeavors, and I hope one day you do decide to return. :)
Thanks for your comment! I remember you from way back. Glad to hear you’re at it again. :)
Who knows. I may decide to do voice acting again, some day. But I try not to say anything to that effect. People get their hopes up, lol.
Wow, I’m a newbie at making machinima but I felt a little sad reading this since I’ve been actually looking at Sims2 machinima for a long, long time. The very first time I heard your voice I just had to find out who that was and since then I’ve had you in my mind as one of the greatest. Now mostly everyone from a certain ‘era’ is leaving the Sims2 machinima community.
I do wish you all the best in your theatre programme and congratulations on your award!
Thank you so much. Good luck with your machinima projects!
